Monique Bowley likes to say 'Yes' a lot.
She's a podcaster, broadcaster, radio producer and writer who went on a reality TV cooking show and didn't cry or use the word "journey" once.
She's spent over 13 years working in radio, both commercially and for the ABC. She built Australia's largest women's podcast network; the Mamamia Podcast Network; amassing 20 million downloads in the first two years. Her weekly podcast, Mamamia Out Loud, was named 2015's best new podcast of the year by iTunes, and the following year was named in iTunes 'classics' podcasts. Things move fast on the internet.
As a writer, her columns have been read across News.com.au and Mamamia, and her weekly podcast newsletter has been named "not spam" by several credible email accounts.
These days, she works for the ABC making podcasts and thinking about what she will say if she runs into Leigh Sales.
A keen baker, she won a Blue Ribbon for Anzac Biscuits at the Royal Adelaide Show. A former CWA Adelaide Branch President, she helped develop a best selling cookbook for the Country Women's Association in South Australia. She came fourth in Channel Nine's The Great Australian Bakeoff on television, and ran a small food van for a while, but all anyone remembers her for is for handing out lolly bags at The Logies and for that time she interviewed Amy Schumer and made a giant knob of herself.
She lives with her Bearded Collie, Maggie, in Melbourne, and is married to a man she met in the ABC kitchen after she asked to borrow a teabag.
